The hiring decision is the most important decision made in any institution of higher education. Therefore, the quality of each employee is critical to the success of the university.

Unclassified Personnel Services (UPS) provides guidance, support and performs quality review for the University of Oregon on unclassified personnel actions to ensure compliance with the Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) and university policies, procedures and practices. UPS works closely with the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity regarding search practices and the offices of Academic Affairs, President, Provost, Vice President for Finance and Administration, Vice President for Research, Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice President for University Relations, Vice President for University Development, and Vice President for Institutional Equity and Diversity on faculty and officer of administration personnel matters.
