Banner Data Reporting Change History Timeline

Data tracking conventions in Banner change over time. For accurate reporting, it is necessary to know what changes happened when. Below is a timeline in reverse chronological order of these changes, to help with analyzing and reporting data.

7/1/2025

Career faculty ranks changed.

  • Instructor
    • Instructor --> Assistant Teaching Professor
    • Senior Instructor I --> Associate Teaching Professor

2024

10/1/2024

Payroll entered multiple pay actions together (requiring viewing the PEAJCDD screen from PWIVERI to see individual actions) instead of separately. Payroll subsequently went back to recording pay actions separately.

April 2024

PWAREVW implemented for tracking OA reviews.

2023

September 2023

Many appointments were not entered during this month and many individuals did not get paid. Many other personnel actions also did not get processed during the month affecting things like FTE data in Banner.

2022

8/1/2022

United Academics collective bargaining agreement signed and valid through 6/30/2024.

Summer 2022

PWAREVW implemented for tracking Career reviews, starting Fall 2022.

2021

September 2021

Tracking of annualized FTE over a 5-year period started for Career faculty. Tracking and updating NBAPOSN as annualized FTE changes.

8/1/2021

Used as Effective Start Date for PEABARG bargaining units at that time.

7/1/2021

Retroactive effective date for UA CBA.

  • Career Ongoing and Funding Contingent faculty types created.
  • Career ranks and appointment types created for instructional and research.
    • Instructor duties may include advising and mentoring responsibilities as well as possibility of involvement in design and development of courses and the curriculum.
      • Assistant Professor --> Instructor
      • Associate Professor --> Senior Instructor I
      • Professor --> Senior Instructor II
    • Lecturer primary duties are in the area of graduate instruction and education. The duties may also include some undergraduate instruction and mentoring and advising responsibilities, as well as the possibility of involvement in design and development of courses and the curriculum. Appointments in the Lecturer category require the terminal degree (or its professional equivalent) relevant to the appointment, but holding a terminal degree does not by itself entitle a bargaining unit faculty member to appointment in the Lecturer category.

Annual FTE MOU for Career, established annual FTE just for 2020. Started tracking in NBAPOSN.

First Longevity Premium effective date for classified.

PWAREVW implemented for tracking TTF reviews, starting Fall 2018.

2017

7/1/2017

  • Pooled Pro Tem F numbers were converted to unique B numbers. Pooled TRP numbers were changed to unique RP numbers. These shifts were related to the implementation of MyTrack Position Descriptions.
  • UOPA bargaining unit recognized by the UO.

2016

7/1/2016

We implemented unique EClass codes for different employee groups, faculty starting with F, OAs starting with A. The classified and temp ones already existed, but we created more. This was due to a move to blended OPE and to have a way to separate OA from Faculty positions more clearly in the data.

2015

7/1/2015

Change from Adjunct to Pro Tempore classification.

5/1/2015

  • Career Faculty were put into unique position numbers, so that they could be identified as Career faculty and we started tracking position classification. NBAPOSN positions were updated to track faculty PClasses.
  • Pro Tems were put in pool position numbers starting with F% by department for budgeting.

2013

7/1/2013

Retroactive effective date for United Academics collective bargaining agreement.

  • Career faculty defined and a reclassification process of qualifying Adjunct faculty to Career classification.
  • Pro Tem faculty defined and a reclassification process of qualifying Adjunct faculty to Pro Tem classification.
  • Librarian faculty ranks created. Librarians transitioned from Professor ranks to Librarian ranks with position changes and promotions.
